The Forum:

A new business opens in Watkins Glen

Editor's Note: We received the following about a new business in our area. As a fellow business, we love to see new ones adding to the fabric of our county. Good luck.

To the Editor on June 23:

I am contacting you on behalf of my family. Just recently, we have opened a new business in Watkins Glen, called F & J's Touch of Country. We were wondering if you could publish an article (that I have written myself) on The Odessa File for us to get the word out. It would really be appreciated! I have pictures attached to this email and the article is below. This means so much to us. Thank you!

F & J's Touch of Country is Open for Business!

Frank and Janice Ameigh restored history. The determined pair brought antiques to the public’s eye and refinished furniture to make a living for their loving family. Through their ownership of F & J Refinished Furniture and Ameigh’s Touch of Country, they expressed their creativity and enthusiasm for giving old objects a new look.

To honor their integrity and passion for their craft, Frank and Janice’s beloved children have made it their goal and mission to follow in their parents’ footsteps. They set off to create a business in remembrance of their shops that had become a special memory from their childhood.

In an effort to maintain Frank and Janice’s property and remember all they did for their community, F & J’s Touch of Country arose. This quaint shop, located at 1746 State Route 414 in Watkins Glen, reflects all that Frank and Janice worked for and appreciated. Their eye for beautiful country décor and antique pieces is exhibited through all of the products for sale. Everything from handmade rugs, to vintage decorations and signs, to recycled furniture is available for purchase amongst all that F & J’s Touch of Country has to offer.

The shop will be open generally from 11-6 on Friday and Saturday and 10-3 on Sundays, yet these hours may vary. To be sure we’re open, look up F & J’s Touch of Country on Facebook. There, you can find our hours, get a sneak-peek of our products, and get all other updates we have for our valued customers.

With the arrival of July, fresh-picked produce will also be sold by Shaffer’s Produce, right outside the shop. The wide variety of vegetables that will be sold are grown locally, in a family-operated garden. Squash, peppers, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and much more will be for sale in the future. More information on the vegetables available can be found on Shaffer’s Produce’s Facebook page.

For quality and local products, F & J’s Touch of Country, joined by Shaffer’s Produce, is the place to be! Come check out our family tradition for yourself this summer, and see what we have to offer!
