WATKINS GLEN, Sept. 5 -- Watkins Glen High School's varsity football team defeated intracounty rival Odessa-Montour Saturday night, Sept. 4, in the season opener for both teams.

The annual Bucket Game saw the Senecas -- under new head coach Mike Johnston Sr.-- prevail 24-8.

By virtue of the win, Watkins reclaimed the old, banged-up, tin-plated bucket that goes each year to the victorious school. Watkins Glen has won the Bucket 27 times, while O-M has claimed it on 20 occasions.

The game story is on Sports, along with photos. Here are some more photos.
