from the girls' Section IV quarterfinals
The Watkins team defeated Owego 46-33 in the Class B quarterfinal in the Field House gym. The Senecas pulled away with a 21-1 second-half run, setting up a semifinal game the following Tuesday against top-seeded Oneonta on the road. Taylor Chaffee led the Senecas with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Marissa Pike scored 14 points and registered 4 steals. Odessa-Montour defeated Sidney in a Class C quarterfinal in the O-M gym, and thereby advanced to a semifinal on Wednesday, March 3 at Southern Cayuga against the No. 2 seed. Michelle Melanson led the Indians with 18 points, while the Ayers twins, Whitney and Rebecca, combined for 21 points. The photos here are from those two games.
